Adjustment Bureau

I love movie theaters and I also love watching movies in movie theaters. This is completely irrelevant to my what I'm about to say next.

First and foremost, if you don't love Emily Blunt, you're an idiot. Secondly, if you don't know who Emily Blunt is, you're an idiot who should be erased from the face of the earth. Just kidding... I recently just watched 2 movies that stars Emily Blunt as one of the main stars. 'Gnomeo and Juliet' and 'The Adjustment Bureau'. But here in this post, I do not wanna talk about Gnomeo and Juliet, maybe because it wasted 90 minutes of my life that I will never get back or maybe because it lacks moral judgement. Even though it does have an ensemble cast which is lead by James McAvoy. Yes, James McAvoy. Okay, where were we? Aah yes, The Adjustment Bureau. Let me ask you this, did you love Inception? Of course you did, you'd be completely out of your mind not to. So for the matter at hand, let's just say we all loved Inception. Rest assured, you'll love The Adjustment Bureau.

The gist of this movie is that for the last few centuries an "adjustment bureau" has been controlling our lives. They plan everything we do, know what we're thinking, but get this not because they're ming readers but because they know by statistics or some BS like that. Well here, they don't call it statistics, they have some fancy-schmancy name for it. Now, Matt Damon plays this congressman who has his whole life planned out for him until suddenly chance leads him to meet the girl of his dreams. But "chance" isn't in the adjustment bureau's plans so they can't let him be together with that girl. There's a whole lot more to it, they have magic doors and all. Interesting, right? I know. By the end of this movie, I can truly say that I think I've been "inceptionized" by an adjustment bureau through 'The Adjustment Bureau'. Get it? To add to that, this movie should be good for all you conspiracy-theory maniacs out there. It's just one of those movies that you know what's gonna happen at the end, but still super awesome.

Okay, it's official. I'm obsessed with How I Met Your Mother, Barney Stinson and NPH.

This morning I woke up to the smell of breakfast and rain. Cheese omelette with bacon and a perfect cup of cafe latte on a rainy Sunday morning. Sounds brilliant right? Because it is.

There is a downside to Sundays though, the fact that the next day is Monday.

Anyways, as you might know or not know, I am a film enthusiast. So after breakfast, I turned on my mac and watched an episode of British teen-dramedy 'Skins'. It just entered it's fifth season and I must say though not as good as the previous seasons, it still succeeds to entertain me. One of the things I love about this show are the music they use. A perfect mix of everything. 

Speaking of music, I've started listening to Mumford & Sons. I've known them for some time now, since I first played 'Little Lion Man' on Tap Tap Revenge 3 (thank you Apple and Steve Jobs). But I didn't really listened. So this time I did and I've got to say they're a big question mark. I mean Marcus Mumford does sound like someone I can't put my finger on and most of their songs have repetitive lyrics that always starts with And (sentence)....And (sentence B). Did I mention the songs in their debut album Sigh No More all sound alike and runs with the same story line? Heartbreak. Boo freakin hoo. I guess if you're heartbroken and-or a really sensitive loner they could work for you. Sine they do have all the cliche heartbreak lines and whatever. And I'll be honest before you call me a hypocrite, I might have tweeted a line from their song, but that was only because that line was literally what I was thinking. 

So Mumford & Sons is actually perfect for all those of you who's heartbroken, out of love and trying to suck as much melodramatic and melancholiness as you can. BUT and this is a HUGE but, can't believe they got to perform with Bob Dylan at the Grammys.

Okay that's it for the time being. Gotta go watch Booth and Brennan solve a murder case. Cheerio.

Burlesco

After a night out at Bureau located in South Jakarta, I went home at 2am before realizing that I had a class 9 hours later. I set my alarm clock for 10am, only to wake up an hour earlier due to a major headache. Went downstairs, had breakfast that my sister made. Took an aspirin, showered and then headed out. I had been dying to watch "Burlesque" which stars the infamous Cher and Christina Aguilera, so after a one hour class, I decided that I was going to watch it. And so I did.

I've always been a fan of the whole "burlesque" thing. It seems so glamorous and exciting. So duh, of course I wanted to see this movie. Oh yeah, and Cam Gigandet also stars in this movie, as Christina Aguilera's love interest. And believe me, he is on fire. Loved him since I first saw him in the O.C. as bad boy Kevin Volchok. In Burlesque, he plays a completely different role. Basically Burlesque is about a girl from Iowa who has an amazing hidden talent, then she finds works as a waitress at this Burlesque club on Sunset Boulevard and ya-da ya-da so the story goes. As I see it, Burlesque is a great movie, if you're a musical fan. But if you're just a movie-fan in general well, I have to say don't have high expectations. Movie-wise it's not so great, unfortunately. Behind all the dancing singing and glamorous settings, Burlesque is just another chick-flick.

As you can read on the poster "An Extraordinary Intoxicating Masterpiece." And believe you me when I say that that sentence right there, is not an exaggeration. This thriller will send shivers up your spine, well that's what it did to me anyways. I was at the edge of my bed as I watched Natalie Portman running around in a tutu. For those of you who have watched this, you probably understand what I mean. But for those of you who haven't watched this, you should! But definitely don't watch it alone, like I did. Because chances are I'll be getting nightmares. Hmm, nightmares! Just what I need, a sleepless night before I have my math tryouts tomorrow morning..... Oh yes, and don't let me forget to mention the fabulous ballerina-swan-like costumes by Rodarte. Ah-mah-zing.

The kids are very much all right

Part of what makes this movie significant, is the ensemble cast. I personally love them. The Kids Are All Right is about a committed lesbian couple whose life is complicated, sort of. Their children Joni and Laser are portrayed by Mia Wasikowska and Josh Hutcherson, another thing I love about this movie. Their half-brother/sister-chemistry is so sweet, not to mention so real. Mark Ruffalo plays Paul, the sperm donor that Jules and Nic chose. Ergo, Paul is Joni and Laser's biological father. This movie is basically about their lives and how family is so important. But enough of that, I'm not gonna tell you everything, see it for yourself. If you're not a cinephile and you don't really like dramas, you probably won't like this and say it's boring. But for those of you who are cinephiles or like dramas, The Kids Are All Right is guaranteed to satisfy you. 

P.S: I'm experiencing a dejavu. I think I dreamt about writing this..
